Message From The CEO
South Central Family Health Center, (SCFHC) is committed to providing comprehensive access to health care for all people, regardless of their documentation status or ability to pay. Policy changes, such as the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), made it possible for SCFHC to expand access to citizens that lacked medical insurance coverage.
Good public policy can make a positive difference in under-resourced communities, such as South Los Angeles and Southeast Los Angeles County, where the ACA allowed us to expand access to care for nearly 4,000 additional patients between 2008 and today.
We support public policy that strengthens the health and well-being of communities, and will continue to advocate on behalf of good legislation that protects our 24,000 patients.
The communities of South Los Angeles, Huntington Park, Cudahy, and their neighboring cities are vibrant places where the working poor and working class raise families. Poverty and environmental factors, however, contribute to negative health conditions and illnesses. That is why SCFHC is committed to an emphasis on preventive care and health education. We offer numerous classes on preventing or controlling diabetes, hypertension, asthma, stress, and provide a road map for successful behavior modification so that our patients can find their own path back to wellness; our relationship with our patients is built on collaboration.
After 40 years, SCFHC continues to expand its services and grow as an organization. Collaborating and partnering with community, political and health associations is imperative. Each member of the SCFHC team is responsible for helping us to heal the communities we serve, one patient at a time. We thank you for your interest in our clinic, and for allowing me an opportunity to share
Sincerely,
Chief Executive Officer
