SCFHC Vision Care Center
SCFHC will be establishing a 4,200 Sq. Ft. Vision Care Center at 4411 S. Central Avenue in order to address an unmet need in the community.
Under the Affordable Care Act, vision care benefits are not required to be included in government sponsored health plans. Subsequently, none of the plans found on the state’s insurance exchange, Covered California, nor the state’s MediCare program, include vision care services as mandated benefits for most adults.
Based on an independent analysis, SCFHC believes that it can establish a thriving Vision Care Center in South Los Angeles that can meet the vision care needs of more than 8,000 patients per year once it is established and operating at 100%.
Once open, it would be the only FQHC operated and non-profit vision care center located in South Los Angeles. With nearly 100,000 people in our primary service area, and an additional 930,000 patients in Los Angeles County’s Service Planning Area 6, the addition of a vision care center will enhance and improve the capacity to provide low-cost and affordable vision care and glasses in the community.
